Location

The Lisbon District extends approximately 100 km north of the Tagus River and includes the lands of the Ribatejo to the east.

The Lisbon District is bordered to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the east by the Santarém District, to the north with the Leiria District and to the south with the Setúbal District.


Area and Population

With an area of ​​2,761 km², the Lisbon District is one of the three smallest districts in the country in terms of surface area.

Densely populated, the Lisbon District is the most populated district in Portugal, with just under 3,400,000 inhabitants.
